DESCRIPTION: Up to 6 to 8mm.  An easily recognisable species that has a chestnut-red coloured elytra with distinctive creamy stripes and spots.  The pronotum is white with chestnut-red markings and the head is black with a creamy-white patch between the eyes. BEHAVIOUR: The beetles overwinter under peeled-off bark and in coniferous litter. This species can be occasionally attracted to light. DISTRIBUTION: Loosely scattered throughout the British Isles. HABITAT: A lover of Pine forests but can be found in deciduous woodland too. PERIOD: The adults occur from spring to late summer.
